May has to be my favourite month of the year as the garden bursts into life, hedgerows froth with cow parsley and the woodlands are a haze of new beech leaves, bluebells and wild garlic. It is a lovely month for garden journaling as there are so many beautiful sights and sounds to illustrate and note down.
The Glasshouse will be filled with fresh beech leaves, garden grown iris, peonies and foxgloves and you will have the opportunity to experiment with watercolour painting, inks, and block printing to discover beautiful ways of noting down a nature diary. In the afternoon you will combine paintings and prints with lettering and collage to capture the blossoming of Spring in your garden journal or sketchbook.
These workshops are a wonderful opportunity to get together, to be inspired, to share creative ideas and techniques, and to relax in the beautiful glasshouse looking out on to the flower beds, orchard in the walled kitchen garden at Renishaw Hall. Refreshments and equipment are provided but please bring a sketchbook and a packed lunch.
